R. David Irvin, 79 of Beech Creek, passed away Monday, April 18, 2011 at his home. He was born in Mill Hall on April 30, 1931, the son of the late Charles and Orpha Harbor Irvin. He married Sylvia Jean Kennis who survives at home.

He was a graduate of Lock Haven High School class of 49. David was a self-employed trucker and had also drove for Confer Trucking and McGhee Excavating. He was a member of the Blanchard Church of Christ.

David proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army stationed in Japan.

He was a member of the Beech Creek American Legion, Howard VFW and the Buckhorn Hunting Camp. He enjoyed fishing, and gardening.

Along with his wife, he is survived by one daughter; Debra I Cree and husband David of Bellefonte, two step-daughters; Melissa Kessler of Mill Hall and Annette Hunsinger of Catawissa, one son; Gregg D. Irvin and wife Debra of Beech Creek, one step-son; Ronald Storeman of Beech Creek, two sisters; Roberta Muthler and Hope Marston and two brothers; Robert and Carl Irvin. He is also survived by eleven stepgrandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main Street, Howard with the Rev. Dr. Russell J. Moldovan officiating. There will be a public visitation from 6 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will be at the Hays-Fearon Cemetery in Beech Creek.
