Obituary of Robert Davis , 68

Robert DePuy Davis, “Bob”, 68, of Bellefonte passed away suddenly Wednesday,
January 21, 2015 at Mount Nittany Medical Center. He was preceded in death by
his parents Katherine Steffie Davis and Robert DePuy Davis Sr.

Bob is survived by his wife Connie Haranin Davis and three children, Robert III
Davis of Washington, DC, Anne Dixon (Ethan) of Bellefonte, and Todd Davis
(Alison) of San Francisco, CA.

Bob was a 1964 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School and Penn State
University, 1974.

After three years at Penn State, Uncle Sam came calling and Bob was off to basic
and advanced training as a military police officer. As he was preparing to ship out
to Korea, word came that Martin Luther King was assassinated, and his orders
changed, keeping him stateside. He was a Specialist 4th Class, Military Police,
United States Army from 1967 to 1969.

Upon discharge, with the GI bill and hard work, Bob returned to Penn State to
graduate with an engineering degree. This led him to his life's work as a
professional structural engineer and architect.

After his family, his greatest pride came from his work on projects like the
National Zoo and Folger Shakespeare Library Addition in Washington, DC as well
as Penn State's Bryce Jordan Center and Beaver Stadium.

True to his profession, he lived by the moto, “Even if you only do one thing in
your life, do it right. Have pride in what you do. Too few of us do these days.”
A public visitation will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015, from 6-8 p.m., with a Vigil for the Deceased at 7:45 p.m., at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring St., Bellefonte, PA. Funeral Mass will be Sunday, January 25, 2015, at 1:00 p.m., at St. John's Catholic Church, 134 East Bishop Street in Bellefonte, with Msgr. Mazur, Father Jakopac, and Deacon Tom Boldin officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Catholic cemetery with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Haranin Davis
Scholarship Fund, Bellefonte Education Foundation, in memory of Bob Davis at
Box 97, Bellefonte, PA 16823 or to the Angel Fund in memory of Bob Davis at
Saint John's Catholic School at 134 East Bishop Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823.
