Robert L. Hockenberry, 72, of Bellefonte, passed away, Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at his home. Born on July 30, 1940, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Simon Franklin and Helen (Tenalio) Hockenberry. He was married to Barbara (Kern) Hockenberry, who survives at home.
Bob was a 1959 graduate of the Bellefonte Area High School. He was of the Protestant Faith.
He retired from Stocker Chevrolet after 23 years of service and had also worked for Jabco Maggi of State College.
He was a member of the Mifflintown American Legion. Bob had been a Little League coach for over 20 years.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1961-1964. For his service he received the Rifle Marksman Badge and the Good Conduct Medal.
Along with his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Robin (Doug) Hostler of Mifflintown, two sons: Thomas Hockenberry of Pleasant Gap and Larry (Wendy) Johnson of Bellefonte; by three sisters, Catherine Fetters, Patricia Yost and Debra Tenalio, and six brothers, James, Herbert, Donald, Paul, Marvin Hockenberry and Terry Tenalio. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Jennifer, Dustin and William Hostler and Cody Johnson. Bob is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and special friends, John and Linda Jabco.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by one daughter, Christy.
A public visitation will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2012, from 6-8 pm and Friday August 24, 2012, from 10-11 am, at Wetzler Funeral Service Inc., 206 N. Spring St., Bellefonte, PA 16823. The funeral service will be Friday, August 24, 2012, at 11:00 am, at the funeral home, with Rev. Jack Grimn officiating. Burial will follow in Meyer Cemetery, Benner Township.
