Ruby Marie Horner Simco, 65, of Pennsylvania Furnace, died Saturday, September 5, 2009, at the Hearthside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in State College.

She was born, September 18, 1943 in Bellefonte, a daughter of the late Russell F. and Ethel Lydia Tressler Horner.

On June 22, 1963, she married Richard D. Simco who preceded her in death on April 2, 2002.

She graduated from State College Area High School in the class of 1961.

Ruby was a member of Bethel Church of the Nazarene, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, and was involved with other children’s and missions ministries. She was employed by Omega Bank retiring in 2002.

Among the things she enjoyed most were homemaking, gardening, spending time with her sisters and special friends, watching the birds at her bird feeder and loved all kinds of jewelry.

Mrs. Simco is survived by two sons, Daniel R. Simco and his wife Misty of Pennsylvania Furnace, and Darren R. Simco and his wife Kelli of rural Spring Mills; four grandchildren, Sharayah, Malisa, Carllee and Caden Simco; and eight brothers and sisters, Kathleen Walker of Pennsylvania Furnace, Ronald Horner of Shingletown, Comly Horner of Watkins Glenn, NY, Virginia Hollen of Tyrone, Stanley Horner of Hagerstown, MD, Karen Way of Port Matilda, Sherry Waltz of Shingletown, and Penny Harpster of Pennsylvania Furnace.

Friends will be received from 6 – 8 p. m. Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at Bethel Church of the Nazarene, 3601 S. Atherton St., State College, PA. The funeral will be at 10:30 a. m. Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at the church with the Rev. Richard Diffenderfer officiating. Burial will be in the Graysville Cemetery.
