Stella A. Snook, 82, of Milesburg, passed away Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Stella was a resident at Eagle Valley Personal Care Home since November 2006 after residing in Pleasant Gap for many years with her family. Born March 6, 1927, in Scranton, the daughter of the late John and Anna Mazur. On Aug. 24, 1946, she married Wilfred "Bill" Snook, who preceded her in death on June 6, 2000.
She attended the Upper Darby School District in Clifton Heights. In 1988, she retired from housekeeping from Penn State. She was a housekeeper for the Phi-Sigma Delta fraternity and loved her boys very much. She also worked in Warnock Hall on the Penn State campus. Stella was of Catholic faith and received communion every Friday from St. John's Catholic Church in Bellefonte.
She enjoyed crocheting, bingo, canning and gardening, but nothing brought her greater joy than her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Stella loved to sit and visit with her family and always found it to be a privilege that she was able to help babysit all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her family was truly her greatest legacy. Stella is survived by a daughter, Linda M. Franks and her husband, Dick, of Zion; a son, Robert Snook and his wife, Jill, of Julian; four grandchildren, Kathy Fisher and her husband, Rodney, and Diane Franks-Matter and her husband, Jeff, all of Zion, and Michael and Ashley Snook, of Julian; four great-grandchildren, Kylie and Matthew Fisher, and Jena and Seth Matter, of Zion. She was preceded in death by her three brothers, Edward Norek, Walt Norek and Robert Mazur.
There will be no public visitation. The funeral services will be private, at the convenience of the family, at Wetzler Funeral Service Inc., Bellefonte, with Father Neil R. Dadey officiating. Burial will be in Zion Union Cemetery, Walker Township.
