Vance Von Witmer, 77, of State College, passed away Friday, May 23, 2014, at his home. Born on January 15, 1937, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Ralph and Grace (Corl) Witmer. On June 28, 1958, he married Nancy Vroman who survives at home.

He was a 1954 graduate of State College High School.

Vance was owner and operator of Witmer Construction. He was a member of Benevolent Protective Order of Elks #1600, Veterans Foreign Wars Post 245, and Masonic Lodge No. 700 F&AM. Vance was a Veteran who served in the United States Army. For his services he received the Good Conduct Medal.

Along with his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Lori Witmer Rider of State College, two sons; Neal A. Witmer of State College, Kurt V. Witmer (Kathleen) of State College, by two sisters; Phyllis Kerlin of Centre Hall and Kaye Meyer of Parkesburg. Also surviving are six grandchildren; Sienna, Isabella, Kyle, Landon, Mason and Madison.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; S. Gale Witmer and Emmett Witmer.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, with a memorial service to immediately follow at Faith United Methodist Church, 512 Hughes Street, Bellefonte, with Reverend Andrew Morgan officiating.

Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
