Walter A. Craig, 75, of Julian, entered Heaven on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009. Born May 22, 1934, in Julian, he was a son of the late Irwin T. and Mabel Morrisey Craig. On Aug. 18, 1956, he married Deloris E. Henninger, who survives at home.
Walter was employed for 43 years by M.L. Claster & Sons and also worked for C-Cor for 21 years. He attended the Brookside Wesleyan Church in Julian. While in good health, Walter devoted each fall to hunting and held an avid interest in professional boxing. He produced a superior garden each summer and looked forward to harvest activities with his family, making the best sauerkraut in crocks once owned by his father. Walter favored family gatherings and preferred his wife's cooking to all others. He had an endless sweet tooth and a soft spot for babies. He also loved animals, especially dogs, caring for countless numbers of them over the years. A hardworking and frugal man all his life, he was forever occupied by the maintenance of his home and automobiles and the various livestock and fowl he intermittently raised through the years.
Along with his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Teresa, Julian, Barb Bowser, Clarence, Brenda Watson, Julian, Lisa Clinger, Centre Hall; one son, Duane Craig, of Bellefonte; three grandsons, Ryan, Michael, and Benjamin. Also surviving are two sisters, Margaret and Violet. In addition to his parents, Walter, the youngest of seven, was preceded in death by four brothers, Ira, Clarence, Melvin, John.
Family and friends will be received at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring St., Bellefonte, from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009. Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Kenneth Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Union Township.
