Walter D. McCool, 83, of Howard, died January 18, 2012 at his residence.
Born March 7, 1928 in Axemann he was a son of the late Harvey and Isabel (Fogelman) McCool.
He was the husband of the late Marjorie J. (Dietz) McCool who preceded him in death on October 4, 2002.
Walter was a WW II Army Veteran serving with the 3053rd service company in Yokohama, Japan.
He retired from Cero Metal Works in 1995. He was a member of the Susquehanna Valley Big Twins Motorcycle Club and was their oldest prospect. He was a life time member of the American Motorcycle Association, and member of the Pleasant Gap Grange. He enjoyed motorcycle racing and raced the AMA circuit up in to the 80’s.
Walter is survived by one son, Kenneth Quiggle of Lockhaven, one brother Clarence “Cork” McCool of Bellefonte; a nephew Patrick McCool, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with the Reverend Renee Ford officiating. Interment will be in Zion Cemetery.
