Walter L. Shay, Sr., 82, of Bellefonte passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at his home. Born in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Dewy and Catherine Shay. He was married to Janet M. Keeler who survives at home.
Walter was a self-employed logger most of his life. He enjoyed being in the woods, being in the garage working on cars, trucks, and big rigs. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Walter is survived by his wife, step son; John Hines of Bellefonte, grandchildren; Greg Shay, Shanon Shay, Charlene Shay, and Megan Gates. He is also survived by a sister, Margie King of Milesburg., sister in law, Jane Keeler of Bellefonte, and eight great grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Walter was preceded in death by a son, Walter L. Shay, Jr. and 11 brothers.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 from 6-8pm at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 Main St. Howard. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Greg Shipe officiating. Burial will follow in Schenck’s Cemetery, Howard Twp.
