Warren A. Schreckengast, 89, ofnBellefonte, passed away, Sunday, June 20, 2010, at home.
Born on May 20, 1921, in Woodward, he was a son of the late Elry Schreckengast and Sara Martin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Hogencamp, in 1980. He was a 1939 graduate of the East Penns Valley High School. Warren was a truck delivery driver for M.L. Clasters and Son retiring after 30 years of service.
He was of the Protestant faith. Warren was a member of the Howard Lions Club and Bald Eagle Fraternal Order of the Police. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Navy.
Warren is survived by his companion of 21 years, Ellen B. Davidson; a son, Ron Schreckengast, of Lyonstown Road; two sisters, Agnes Jernigan, of North Carolina and Nancy (Rufus) Balban, of Woodward; three grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Don Schreckengast; a daughter, Shirley Delong; a brother, Pete Schreckengast; and a sister, Barb Sanford.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m., Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at Wetzler Funeral Service Inc., 206 N. Spring St., Bellefonte. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Frank E. Skies officiating. Burial will follow in Oakridge Cemetery, Union Township.
