Rebecca M. Sowers, 73, of Howard, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Milton Hershey Medical Center. Born on September 2, 1952, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late William and Edna (Eppler) Robinson. On November 18, 1972, in Atlantic City, she married Larry T. Sowers, who preceded her in death on April 15, 2011.
Rebecca was a 1970 graduate of Atlantic City High School. She held several jobs over the years, but after starting her family, she devoted herself fully to being a loving stay-at-home mother and homemaker, creating a clean, safe, and caring environment for her family.
She enjoyed watching television, especially murder mysteries, and loved going on long car rides with no particular destination, simply enjoying the scenery and time spent along the way.
Rebecca was an excellent seamstress who lovingly made many baby quilts for family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking and was known for tackling household chores late into the night after her children were asleep. She had a fondness for lighthouses and took great joy in seeing them whenever she could.
Rebecca was a kind and loving person who was also strong-willed and outspoken. She shared her opinions freely and honestly, and those around her always knew where they stood—one of the many traits that made her uniquely herself.
She is survived by her children: Larry Sowers, Jr. and his companion, Wendy, of Howard; Regina M. L. Wright of Howard; and William C. Sowers and his fiancée, Mary Emel, of Milesburg; as well as her former daughter-in-law, Meghan Creveling-Sowers of Altoona. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Kevin, Joseph, Larry II, Joseph, Trinity, and Jax.
In addition, Rebecca is survived by two brothers: William Robinson and his wife, Roseanne, of Egg Harbor, New Jersey, and Wesley Robinson of New Jersey; and four sisters: Edna McGovern and her husband, James, of Somers Point, New Jersey; Mary Robinson of Egg Harbor, New Jersey; Suzanne Robinson of Howard; and Ruthann Robinson of Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Rebecca had a deep love for animals and leaves behind her cherished pets: Bacon, Kissaboo, Lilie Rose, Bella, Georgie, Tigger, Ash, and Charlie the guinea pig.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Kevin Wright, Sr.; her daughter-in-law, Eileen Ammerman-Sowers; and three brothers: Robert Robinson, Lewis Robinson, and Howard Robinson.
Public visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 noon with Pastor David Downer officiating at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Milesburg. Burial will be private at Eagle Cemetery in Boggs Township.
