Rita Mae Sipple Wasson, 92, of Cochranville, PA died Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Brandywine Longwood Assisted Living in Kennett Square, PA.
Born December 20, 1931, in Erie, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Gladys Hill Sipple. As a teenager, she was raised by Stanley and Ruth Loomis in Albion, PA. On June 4, 1955 she married Samuel B. Wasson, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by three children, Susan L. Stark and her husband Thomas of Cochranville, Melody Diamond and her husband Rick of Cochranville, and David B. Wasson and his wife Melissa of State College; five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
She graduated from Albion Area High School in 1951. While in high school, she participated in Future Homemakers of America receiving 1st place for her model kitchen design. She also won 1st place in Erie County for her cherry pie.
Rita was a member of the Spring Creek Presbyterian Church of Lemont, PA and Victor Grange of Boalsburg, PA. She enjoyed volunteering for Easter Seals, Special Olympics, Sight Loss Support Group and Mount Nittany Medical Center.
Visitation will be Monday, August 19, 2024 from 11-1 pm at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College. Funeral service will follow at 1 pm with the Reverend Carl Campbell officiating.
Entombment will be at Spring Creek Presbyterian Cemetery.
