Robert E. Sauerwein, 51, of Centre Hall, was surrounded by loved ones as he was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center. Born on September 3, 1974, in Seoul, South Korea, he was the son of Rev. Russell L. and Dorothy L. (Niessner) Sauerwein of Centre Hall.

Robert graduated from Penns Valley High School in 1993. Robert had been employed at Giant for many years and remained in touch with many of his former co-workers.

Robert loved food and all it entailed from cooking and preparing it to trying new places and adventures involving it. He was a true servant in life, to God, his family, friends, and community. For many years, he coached and served as a referee for various PIAA sports all over the county and statewide. He played football and basketball in high school and found joy in sharing that passion for sports with today’s youth. He was the go-to guy when you needed help with something because his network of friends was vast and he always seemed to “know a guy” that could help. He loved visiting family, traveling, and family trips with his nephew, nieces, and Kristen’s children. He was a character, always smiling that smile that would light up a doomy room, and he looked out for everyone, helping in any way he could.

Along with his parents, Robert is survived by his sister, Teresa L. Armor of Murrysville, PA and her children, Noelle, Natalie, and Barrett; his brother, Mark A. Sauerwein (Nancy) of Spring Mills; his soul mate and partner in life, Kristen Galardi and her children, Millie and Abby; two aunts, Carolyn Wiram (Mike) and Lyne Carr; and his God parents, Robert and Teresa Aquaro.

A memorial service to celebrate Robert’s life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 11am, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Centre Hall with Rev. Rebecca Horn officiating. He will be laid to rest immediately following the service at the Reformed & Lutheran Cemetery.

Robert had a passion for athletics and coaching, therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family would request memorial contributions to be made to any local athletic program that helps children. If you are not sure of any, the family suggests the Phillipsburg YMCA, Penns Valley Area, or Bald Eagle Area.
