She was known for her generous heart and the kindness she extended to everyone she met. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Shirley was born in Spring Mills on August 16, 1936, to Frank and Helen Benner Crust.  Both of Shirley’s parents passed by the time she was 5 years of age.  She was raised by her half-brother and his wife, William E. and Bertha Resides Crust of Howard.  She attended Hublersburg High School. Shirley was married for 70 years to the love of her life, the late Lewis E. Corman, who preceded her in death on August 10, 2024.  Together they had six children, four of whom survive, Lewis E. Corman Jr. (Lori) of Millheim, Debra Immel of Aaronsburg, Candace Wasson (Ronald) of State College, and Alta Wolf (Kip) of Howard.

Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren, Terri Spahr, Lewis E. “Ted” Corman III, Jaime Ross (Jeremy), Andrea Gill (Jim), Latrisha Hough (Ronnie), Nicole Dreibelbis (Dustin), Krystal Berkey (Luke), Heather Wasson (Hunter Stultz), Halee Wasson (Michael Amato), Ashlee Kochik (Brian), Orry Corman (Hannah), Olivia Vogt (Barron), Olia Corman and Owyn Corman; twenty-two great grandchildren, Alex Corman, Zane, Nathan, and Joshua Spahr, Kaylee Butts (Taylor), Alexis Mondy (Max), Megan Ross, Jordan, Colleen and Kaden Gill, Kimber Hough, Sadee, Rafe, and Hattie Dreibelbis, Peyton Berkey, Hudson and Harlan Stultz, Bowen & Locklyn Kochik, Liam McCarthy, Tate Lewis Corman and Easton Vogt; one great great grandchild, Blakelee Butts; one  anxiously awaited great great grandchild due in October 2025; one sister, Joanne Miller (Wayne) of Mingoville and one daughter in law, Kama Corman of Centre Hall.

In addition to Shirley’s husband and parents she was preceded in death by one son, Orvie E. Corman: one daughter, Sharon L. Corman and her half-brother William Crust.

Shirley worked alongside Lewis on the family dairy farm, and she drove a school bus for Penns Valley School students for 35 years.  Many of Shirley’s students still recall the time they rode her bus, and they continue to stop by to visit her.

Shirley enjoyed baking, cooking, shopping and especially spending time with her family, friends and neighbors.  When Shirley had visitors, she was quick to offer something to eat.  Her pride and joy were her family; she looked forward to family gatherings and making everyone’s favorite foods. Shirley was a longtime camper at Grange Fair and enjoyed visiting with family and friends there. She loved going to Myrtle Beach with her son Orvie and his family and attending her daughter Candy’s Fall Festival each year.  Shirley loved all holidays when family would be together creating memories. She enjoyed word search puzzles and watching Jeopardy.  Shirley served her community; she was a member of the Millheim Fireman’s Ladies Auxiliary for many years and the Penns Valley Grange #158 for more than 30 years.  During her time in Grange, she served as Grange Flora and was in charge of the food committee. She received the State Grange award for her famous chocolate cake with peanut butter icing.

The family extends a heartfelt thanks to Mount Nittany Medical Center, 365 Hospice especially, her caregivers, Meryn, Dorothy, and Sue, and her personal caregiver Veronica for all of the care and support.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 noon with Pastor Vince Smith officiating.  Shirley will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Millheim.  Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Orvie Corman Memorial Scholarship Fund, ℅ Doug Welsh 120 Airport Road, Centre Hall, PA 16828.  Please make checks payable to the Penns Valley Education Foundation and write “Orvie Corman” on the memo line.
