Susan was a graduate of Our Lady of Mercy on Long Island. After graduating high school, she went on to attend the former Newton College of the Sacred Heart (present day Boston College) in Newton, Massachusetts. It was there that she earned her BA in Liberal Arts. She loved her career as a retail executive covering stores along the East Coast from Maine to Philadelphia for over thirty years until her retirement.
She is survived by her two daughters, Catherine “Kibby” E. Witmer (Mark) of Port Matilda, and Susan C. Trainor (Jan Ulbrecht) of State College. She was the most loved “Nana” to three grandchildren, Christopher M. Witmer of State College, Caela M. Camazine of St. Louis, MO, and Conor M. Camazine of State College. Also surviving is a brother, Kevin F. Gallagher (Cindy) of Annapolis, MD, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Frank and Marie, she was predeceased by a sister, Gail Gallagher.
During her years living in New York, she would always look forward to her time spent in Southold and North Fork on Long Island. She also volunteered at the Bronx Zoo for several years. She loved to travel, especially abroad. After her retirement, she moved to Pennsylvania to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Her lunch and movie outings with her group of friends, affectionately referred to as “The Three Musketeers,” was the highlight of any given Tuesday.
