Penn State men’s basketball added another piece on Sunday as Siena transfer guard Jalen Pickett announced his intent to transfer to Penn State. Pickett is the second incoming transfer to join the Nittany Lions after guard Jaheam Cornwall’s commitment on Friday. Pickett has two season of eligibility remaining.
Pickett hits the scales at 6-foot-4 guard, averaging 12.9 points per game, 6.3 rebounds per game and 4.8 assists per game for the Saints last season in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. He was named the conference’s player of the year this past season.
During that campaign Pickett shot 46 percent from the field while averaging 15.1 points, 6 assists and 4.6 rebounds. The previous year Pickett was unanimously voted the MAAC Rookie of the Year, averaging 15.8 points and 6.7 assists per game.
The talented guard heads to Penn State after a recent announcement by big man John Harrar that he would return to Penn State. The Nittany Lions lost both Myreon Jones and Jamari Wheeler to the portal while guard Izaiah Brockington announced this plans to enter the portal for a second time. Brockington has not found a new home, while Jones is headed to Florida and Wheeler cross-conference rival Ohio State.
