Rep. Glenn Thompson Tests Positive for COVID-19, Hospitalized ‘Out of an Abundance of Caution’

U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson, R-Howard Township, is being treated at a military hospital “out of an abundance of caution” after testing positive for a breakthrough case of COVID-19, according to a statement from his office.

The Centre County native, who according to the statement is vaccinated against the virus, began experiencing cold-like symptoms on Friday afternoon and was tested for COVID-19.

Thompson is being treated at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

“He is in good spirits and further updates will be made available in the coming days,” the statement said.

The 62-year-old is in the middle of his seventh term in Congress, having first been elected in 2008. He represents the 15th Congressional District, which includes all but the southeastern part of Centre County and portions of Armstrong, Butler, Cambria, Cameron, Clarion, Clearfield, Elk, Forest, Indiana, Jefferson, McKean, Venango, and Warren counties.
