no description

A bicyclist was flown to a hospital with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a driver Thursday evening in State College’s Greentree neighborhood.

The State College man, whose age was not immediately available, was traveling on the bicycle path crossing Edgewood Circle at about 7:55 p.m. when he was struck by a 16-year-old female driving a sedan, borough police Capt. Greg Brauser said.

Life Flight helicopter was called to the State College Area High School fields behind Welch Pool and took the man to UPMC Altoona to be treated for injuries Brauser described as “severe” and “life-threatening.”

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by State College police and the regional crash reconstruction team.

Centre LifeLink and Alpha Fire Company also responded to the scene.
