State Sen. Jake Corman Tests Positive for COVID-19

Pennsylvania Senate President Pro Tempore Jake Corman, R-Bellefonte, has tested positive for COVID-19, his office announced on Wednesday.

The state Senate’s top-ranking Republican is fully vaccinated against the virus and has mild symptoms, according to a statement.

“In an overabundance of caution, Senator Corman has routinely been tested throughout the pandemic,” the statement said. “He will continue to work while quarantining at home. His symptoms are mild, and he looks forward to a complete recovery.”

The 57-year-old, who has served in the state Senate since 1999, had been expected to announce his campaign for governor at an event on Thursday in Bellefonte. That event has been canceled, the Associated Press reported.
