A. Clair “Pap” Sheats, 93, of Rebersburg, went home to be with his Lord on November 13, 2017. Born February 6, 1924 in Sellersville, Pap was a son of the late True O. and Susanna “Hunsberger” Sheats. On August 7, 1948, he married Eva S. Godshall, who preceded him in death. Pap was a heavy equipment operator, working in construction most of his life.

Pap is survived by five daughters, N. Elaine Hadden (Dale) of Dixonville, Gloria A. McClellan (Roy) of Spring Mills, Linda K. Kimble of Rebersburg, Karen L. Montoya (Arturo) of Indiana and Charlotte F. Musser of Spring Mills; one son, David Sheats (Melody) of Rebersburg; twenty one grandchildren and twenty nine great grandchildren. Also surviving are Pap’s siblings, LeRoy Sheats, Rhoda Shockley (Dean), Eunice Freed (Marvin), Mary Allebach (Abe) and Martha Benedict (Dan). In addition to his wife, Pap was preceded in death by one brother, Allen Sheats, two sons-in-law, Norm Kimble and Jonathan Musser and one grandson.

Pap had the gift of storytelling. He would tell wonderful stories from his life experiences and everyone loved to hear them. He loved being outdoors, enjoying nature, going on Sunday drives in the mountains. In his younger years, he supported his growing family working on the farm. He loved logging and worked at that for a while. Pap could always be found helping his Amish friends in the community. He was an antique “treasure” collector and loved tractors. Pap was a member of the Reedsville Mennonite Church and enjoyed reading and studying the Bible, especially the book of Revelation. He was an avid reader, with an extensive book collection. Most of all, Pap loved to spend time with his family and they with him. He loved each of his children deeply and his passing will leave a huge void in their lives.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, November 17th from 6-9 pm at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim. The funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, November 18th at Faith Alive Fellowship with Pastor LeRoy Sheats officiating. There will be a one hour visitation at the church from 11am until the time of the service. Pap will be laid to rest in Yearick Cemetery, Spring Mills. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Pap may be given to Faith Alive Fellowship, 4394 Penns Valley Road, Spring Mills, PA 16875.
