1 Dead After Crash on U.S. Route 322 Near Boalsburg

One person died after a car collided with a tractor-trailer Monday morning on U.S. Route 322 near Boalsburg, according to State College police.

Police said a preliminary investigation found that at about 10:50 a.m. the driver of the car was traveling eastbound on the 5800 block of Mount Nittany Expressway and crossed into the opposing lane. The car collided head on with the tractor-trailer, which was traveling westbound.

The driver of the car, whose name was withheld pending notifications, was killed.

Route 322 was closed for about three and a half hours between the Oak Hall/Boalsburg exit and 1 mile east of Mountain Back Road and Red Mill Road at Potters Mills and traffic was detoured onto Route 45 and Route 144. All lanes reopened around 2:30 p.m.

State College police, Boalsburg Fire Company Centre Life Link EMS, Alpha Fire Company, Patton Township police, Centre County EMA, Centre Region EMA, the Centre County coroner and PennDOT responded to the crash.
