Amazon Pickup Store on South Allen Street Permanently Closes

The Amazon pickup center in downtown State College has permanently closed. Located at 134 S. Allen St., it had been in business for nearly five years.

The store served as a fast way for Amazon Prime users to receive their packages. Rather than waiting for their belongings to arrive on their doorstep, customers could pick up their packages at this location. Users would arrive at the store, scan a barcode, and retrieve their packages from a locker.

According to a sign on the door, the shop closed for good on Friday, May 13. The store’s information on Google reflects that it’s permanently closed, as well.

Customers can still pick up their Amazon packages in lockers located at State College area Weis Market locations.

The Amazon pickup store is one of a few downtown establishments that closed this month. Across the street Woodring’s Floral Gardens closed its 145 S. Allen St. location and is now consolidated with its Bellefonte shop. Crust & Crumb Cafe closed at the beginning of the month after less than two years in business at 115 E. Beaver Ave.
