Overnight road resurfacing work will take place this week in Bellefonte, according to PennDOT.
Drivers will encounter flaggers in the roadway on Bishop Street (Route 550) starting Monday evening as crews begin milling and paving. Work will occur between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. throughout the week.
Crews also plan to begin milling on High Street on Wednesday, July 8, following the same schedule as on Bishop Street.
“PennDOT urges drivers to exercise caution while traveling through all work zones, obey flaggers and other posted work zone signage, watch for slow moving or stopped vehicles and always buckle up,” the department wrote in a news release.
Work includes milling, paving, line painting and miscellaneous construction, according to PennDOT.
It’s part of a $2.2 million contract that included resurfacing on Route 45 between Gregg Township and Millheim earlier this construction season, and will see additional work on Howard Street in Bellefonte, the timing for which will be announced at a later date.
Glenn O. Hawbaker is the contractor on the project. PennDOT expects all work in the overall contract to be completed in August.
