A Domino’s Pizza location in State College is offering free pizza to SNAP recipients, and to customers who pitch in for a food drive.
The chain’s restaurant at 540 Westerly Parkway will provide a free large, one-topping pizza in November to customers who present their EBT card while the food assistance program is suspended amid the federal government shutdown, according to owner Jasmine Rubelowsky. The “Slice of Kindness” campaign offer is valid one time per recipient.
Two federal judges on Friday ordered the Trump administration to use a designated contingency fund to continue the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program during the shutdown, but the program’s status remained in limbo as of Sunday.
Customers who bring four non-perishable food items to the Westerly Parkway Domino’s between Nov. 6-26, meanwhile, will receive a free small, one-topping pizza. The food drive will benefit the State College Food Bank.
Big Chicken Hiring as Opening Nears
Big Chicken is hiring as it nears the opening of its first State College location.
The restaurant chain founded by Shaquille O’Neal and specializing in chicken tenders, sandwiches, wings, fries and milkshakes plans to open by the end of the year at 480 E. College Ave., on the ground floor of oLiv Hetzel, according to a news release.
The location is now hiring for shift manager and hourly positions on its inaugural team. Interested candidates may apply at www.bigchicken.com/state-college-pa-careers.
“We’re thrilled to bring Big Chicken to campus, just steps from College Avenue,” co-owner Sid Siddhu said. “From bold flavors to a lively atmosphere, everything about this brand fits our vision for creating a fun and memorable experience for Penn State students, alumni, and townies. We can’t wait to build our team, welcome the community, and be part of tailgates, game days, and all the moments that make living in State College so special.”
Integrative Medicine Practice Opens in State College
A new functional and integrative medicine practice is opening its doors in State College.
Synergy Integrative Wellness will hold a grand opening from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 12 at 320 Rolling Ridge Drive, Suite 203. The event will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony, light refreshments, door prizes, an opportunity to meet founder Bethany Stough and tour the shared wellness space.
Stough, a doctor of nursing practice and certified family nurse practitioner, said the practice addresses a growing need for personalized, integrative healthcare that goes beyond symptom management.
“I founded Synergy Integrative Wellness to create a space where people can find a different approach to healthcare,” said Stough. “Through functional and integrative medicine, we take the time to understand each person’s unique story—looking deeper to uncover the underlying factors affecting such as hormone balance, energy, gut health, and immune function—so patients can move beyond managing symptoms to truly feeling well.”
The practice combines evidence-based functional medicine with nutritional biochemistry, prescription medications, herbal formulas and lifestyle interventions, Stough explained.
“Functional medicine asks ‘why’ instead of just treating symptoms,” she said. “We use advanced diagnostic testing to identify imbalances in hormones, gut health, nutrient status, and metabolic function. Then we develop personalized plans that target the underlying drivers of illness rather than focusing solely on symptom relief.”
