Downtown Bellefonte Inc. this week approved funding for four innovation grant proposals submitted by businesses in the borough.

The funds are awarded through DBI’s annual grant program, which is designed to help businesses in the Bellefonte area grow and better serve the local community. Program funding is made possible by Centre County Government.

This year’s recipients are:

  • Bellefonte Brick Studio: $1,383 to be used toward a eufyMake E1 3D UV printer for adding customer designs to Lego blocks and other pieces.
  • Summers Martial Arts: $480 for aluminum signage featuring the business name above its entrance at 115 N. Allegheny St.
  • Elisabeth Joseph Jewelers: $1,975 for the purchase a laser engraver for customizing jewelry.
  • DESIGNBYCBL Architecture: $1,185 to be used toward hiring a student intern to support a free advising initiative for small businesses in need of guidance on meeting code and other architectural requirements.

In previous years, the grant program has typically awarded only two proposals, dividing the available funds between one new business and one established business. This year, available funds were allocated between four enterprises, based on proposal requests.

DBI is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening Bellefonte’s downtown through business development, community partnerships and cultural initiatives.
