A local franchise of Pure Barre fitness studios will hold its grand opening this month.
Pure Barre State College will celebrate its opening on Jan. 22 at 19 Colonnade Way, Suite 107, in between the UPS Store and Crumble Cookies.
Pure Barre, the largest franchise of barre brand in North America, is billed as a low-impact, high-intensity full-body workout that draws on a number of activities designed to strengthen and tone.
“I am so excited to be a part of an amazing community & help others achieve their fitness goals,” Erin Porta, who owns the State College location with her husband, Aaron, said in a press release. “I am so passionate about health/wellness and can’t wait to share my love for it with the community.”
Founded in 2001, Pure Barre has more than 650 studios and more than 600,000 clients. The new State College studio “will offer an effective total body workout focused on low-impact, high intensity isometric movements that lift and tone muscles to improve strength, agility and flexibility for everybody in 45-50 minutes,” according to the release.
Each class will be taught by trained teachers and feature musically driven choreography.
The grand opening celebration will be open to the public and will offer newcomers their first class for free. Discounted memberships also will be available — the studio is currently offering founders memberships of $129 a month with unlimited classes for life.
Erin Porta, who managed a Pure Barre studio in Pittsburgh before opening the State College franchise, previously told StateCollege.com the new studio will also feature a boutique with brands such as Lululemon, Alo, Free People, Spiritual Gangster and Beyond Yoga.
Pure Barre State College will be open 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
“Pure Barre is not just a fitness studio; it’s a transformative experience,” Porta told StateCollege.com in October.. “Our studio is dedicated to helping individuals of all fitness levels achieve their health and wellness goals through a unique and effective workout regimen that combines elements of ballet, pilates and yoga.
“What sets Pure Barre apart is our commitment to creating a supportive and empowering environment where our clients can tone their bodies, build strength, and boost their confidence. We believe that Pure Barre will provide a fresh and exciting fitness option for people of all ages and backgrounds.”
