Smokey Axe Grille Closes, Two Eateries to Open at Axemann Brewery

The Smokey Axe Grille has closed its restaurant inside Axemann Brewery in Bellefonte, but two familiar names in the Centre County food scene will be replacing it.

Marin Eats and Flo Bros. Fire Smoked Pizza will become the permanent food vendors inside the brewery at 2042 Axemann Road beginning Thursday, Axemann representatives confirmed.

Smokey Axe Grille closed on Saturday after about seven months inside Axemann, according to a post on its Facebook page. The business will now be focusing on its food truck, Belle City Bites.

Started by former Red Horse Tavern owner and chef Justin Leiter, Smokey Axe replaced Blonde Bistro when it moved from Axemann to a standalone location on Nittany Valley Drive.

The two businesses taking over the kitchen inside Axemann have both made their names as popular food trucks around Centre County.

Marin Eats serves up varied menu that includes appetizers, sandwiches and cheesesteaks, as well as entrees like steak, seafood and chicken dishes.

Flo Bros. makes gourmet, smoked crust pizzas with a plethora of topping options, as well as specialty pies and strombolis.

Menus for the restaurants’ Axemann offerings have not yet been made available. After opening on Thursday, they will be open regularly Wednesday through Sunday.
