The Centre Area Transportation Authority will celebrate its riders and the local community with a special event this month.

Rider Appreciation Day will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday, April 24, at the CATA Customer Service Center, 108 E. Beaver Ave. in downtown State College.

The event will feature free pizza (while supplies last) and a variety of giveaways, including a raffle for a a $250 Visa gift card with multiple ways of entering to increase attendees’ chances of winning. There will also be a prize wheel to win CATA-branded gifts and items and gift cards from local businesses and restaurants.

CATA CEO Todd Horsley said that since he arrived in State College last summer to take on the role, it has been “gratifying” to see the support the authority receives from the community.

“Having a public transit system as robust as CATA here in State College is only possible because of our riders and the community who support us day in and day out. Rider Appreciation Day is our chance to celebrate that special relationship,” Horsley said. “Whether you ride with us every day or only once in a while, we want you to know how much we value the role you play in keeping CATA going.”
