A State College holiday tradition will return to Eisenhower Auditorium in December as Nittany Ballet marks 30 years of “The Nutcracker.”
The annual production, presented by dancers from the Performing Arts School of Central Pennsylvania, is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, at Eisenhower Auditorium at Penn State. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 16.
Tickets cost $42 for adults, $36 for those 55 or older and $31 for students and those 18 and younger. Online fees may apply. Tickets purchased by phone at 814-863-0255 or in person at the auditorium during weekday business hours will avoid the $4 fee. The Arts Ticket Center is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.
The ballet performance follows Clara through a Christmas Eve adventure involving toy soldiers, the Mouse King, dancing snowflakes and the Nutcracker Kingdom. The show will conclude with Clara meeting the Sugarplum Fairy and other characters from the kingdom.
Eisenhower Auditorium will offer sensory accommodations for audience members with disabilities. The venue is certified as sensory-friendly by KultureCity, a nonprofit for sensory accessibility and acceptance, and has a designated quiet space on the lounge level.
Guests can also borrow sensory items including noise-reducing earmuffs, anti-strobe glasses, lap pads and other sensory tools. The KultureCity app provides pre-visit information and social stories to help guests know what to expect before attending.
More information and tickets are available through the Performing Arts School of Central Pennsylvania’s “The Nutcracker” page.
