One on One raised nearly $40,000 for two local nonprofits with its annual charitable campaign.
The fitness and wellness center, located at 424 W. Aaron Dr., State College, will donate $39,395 to Centre Volunteers in Medicine and the Centre County Youth Service Bureau as a result of its 2023 “Give Back” initiative, the business announced this month.
In addition to special events and direct donations from the business, the campaign is supported by One on One’s clients, who have the opportunity to pay for certain services by making a donation to one of the two designated charities.
“We started the program to leverage our charitable giving; to spend one dollar to raise two, but it has become so much more,” Bruce Burke, One on One founder, said. “We have enjoyed more inspiration from our staff, clients and community than we ever could have imagined.”
Since the program’s inception in 2009, One on One has now raised $571,980.
“This unique form of giving helps us provide much needed healthcare to low income, underserved individuals who live or work in Centre County,” Cheryl White, CVIM executive director, said. “A half-million dollars raised is a remarkable milestone! We encourage all local businesses to follow One on One’s lead and help the charity of their choice.”
“Having the support of One on One has meant so much to us here at YSB,” Christine Bishop, Youth Service Bureau CEO, added. “It has allowed us to keep our services running during a time when local kids and families have reached out to us more than ever before. Beyond the financial support, we are grateful to know that so many people in our community value what we’re doing and want to give back.”
