South Hills School of Business & Technology is launching its 35th annual Music Picnic Series starting Sunday, June 2. Every Sunday through Aug. 25, the school will host a picnic at 4 p.m. and concert starting at 6 p.m. at the Tom Mazza Memorial Band Shell.
The event is sponsored by the Mazza Foundation for Education in conjunction with Best Event Rentals.
Parking is free and lemonade will be available for one penny a glass.
The series includes a variety of music genres, including jazz, blues, big band, country, folk and soft rock, and will perform on the following schedule:
- June 2 — Rocket Blasters
- June 9 — Triple A Blues Band
- June 16 — Code Blue
- June 23 — Nittany Knights
- June 30 — Deacons of Dixieland
- July 7 — An American Celebration with the Bellefonte Community Band and the State College Area Municipal Band
- July 14 — Off for Arts Fest
- July 21 — Adam and Armadillos
- July 28 — Coal Aly Band
- Aug. 4 — Natascha and the Spy Boys
- Aug. 11 — Keystone Big Band
- Aug. 18 — Sultanz of Swing
- Aug. 25 — Zeropoint Big Band
The outdoor concerts will be held rain or shine at South Hills’ main campus at 480 Waupelani Drive in State College. Attendees are recommended to bring blankets and chairs for additional comfort during the concerts.
