Centre County Adds 124 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 5,874

Centre County reported 124 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday to bring its total to 10,848, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 5,874 new cases, bringing the statewide total to 818,369.

The county also had 62 additional negative test results, increasing its total to 56,336. Across Pennsylvania there were 10,333 new negatives for a total of 3,590,184.

DOH reported two new COVID-19 deaths among Centre County residents to bring the total to 188. Coroner Scott Sayers has confirmed 130 deaths attributed to the virus in Centre County, ranging in age from 55 to 104.

With 222 new COVID-19 deaths reported Wednesday, Pennsylvania’s total is now 21,105.

Mount Nittany Medical Center is currently treating 32 COVID-19 patients, a decrease of two since Tuesday. The patients range in age from 13 to 96, a hospital spokesperson said.

Statewide, 3,768 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, including 759 in intensive care and 447 on ventilators.

An estimated 80% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.

According to DOH data, 6,810 people in Centre County have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine to date. Of those, 1,392 have received the required second dose.

Among Pennsylvania’s total cases, 718,386 are confirmed and 99,983 are probable. In Centre County, 10,047 are confirmed and 801 are probable.
