Centre County Adds 20 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 3,150 New Positives

Centre County reported 20 new COVID-19 cases on Monday to bring its total to 18,410, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Among total cases, 16,695 are confirmed and 1,715 are probable.

Pennsylvania added 3,150 positives to increase the statewide total to 1,350,719.

The county also had 59 new negative test results for a total of 77,134. Statewide there were 7,484 negatives to bring the total to 5,263,267.

Deaths

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the total at 232.

With two new COVID-19 deaths statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is 28,568.

Hospitalizations

According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, 23 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County, four more than on Sunday, with two in intensive care and two on ventilators.

Pennsylvania has 2,239 COVID-19 inpatients, an increase of 56 since Sunday, with 551 in intensive care [+16] and 287 on ventilators [+7]. Hospitalizations are at their highest level since April 30.

An estimated 92% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a DOH calculation.

Transmission Level

All 67 counties in Pennsylvania are at the highest level for community transmission of COVID-19 on the Centers for Disease Control scale, according to the latest county-level data update on Sunday afternoon.

Transmission levels are based on positivity rate and cases per 100,000 people for the previous seven days. At the substantial and high levels, CDC guidance recommends all people, regardless of vaccination status, wear masks in public indoor settings.

Vaccinations

As of Monday morning, 81,459 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated [+62 since Sunday] and 6,659 are partially covered [-16]. According to the CDC, 60.5% of the county’s entire population and 67.4% of adult residents have received at least one dose.

Statewide, 67% of adults are vaccinated and Pennsylvania is fifth in the nation for total doses administer, according the CDC.

Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in MedicineMount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov.
