Centre County Adds 22 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 3,899 New Positives

Centre County reported 22 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday to bring its total to 20,222, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Among total cases 18,296 are confirmed and 1,926 are probable.

Pennsylvania added 3,899 positives to increase the statewide total to 1,517,231.

The county also had 84 new negative test results for a total of 81,544. Statewide there were 5,866 negatives to bring the total to 5,630,619.

Deaths

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the total at 241.

With 64 new COVID-19 deaths identified by the Pennsylvania death registry, the statewide total is now 30,587.

Hospitalizations

Mount Nittany Medical Center has 37 COVID-19 inpatients, one fewer than on Monday, with one in intensive care and one on a ventilator.

The patients range in age from less than 1 year old to 94, according to Mount Nittany’s COVID-19 inpatient dashboard. Ten are fully vaccinated and 27 are not vaccinated.

Statewide, Pennsylvania has 3,025 COVID-19 inpatients, an increase of 106 since Monday, with 694 in intensive care [+29] and 397 on ventilators [+16], according to DOH’s hospital preparedness dashboard.

Transmission level

All 67 counties in Pennsylvania are at the highest level for community transmission of COVID-19 on the Centers for Disease Control scale, according to the latest county-level data update on Tuesday.

Transmission levels are based on positivity rate and cases per 100,000 people for the previous seven days. At the substantial and high levels, CDC guidance recommends all people, regardless of vaccination status, wear masks in public indoor settings.

Vaccinations

As of Tuesday morning, 84,231 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated [+55 since Monday] and 6,703 are partially covered [+135]. Third doses have been administered to 6,157 county residents [+255].

Among the county’s entire population, 63.9% have received at least one dose and 54.3% are fully vaccinated, according to the CDC. Among adult residents, 71.3% have received at least one dose and 60.5% are fully vaccinated

Statewide, 70.8% of adults and 59.6% of the total population are fully vaccinated. Pennsylvania is fifth in the nation for total doses administered, according the CDC.
