STATE COLLEGE — Join Centre Moves in April for the third annual Centre Moves Fit Families Challenge. The community coalition dedicated to encouraging healthy habits in Centre County is once again hosting the month-long county-wide health initiative to get people moving.

To participate, families — parents, grandparents, children, colleagues or friends — should register at www.centremoves.org, exercise at least 15 times between Sunday, April 1, and Monday, April 30, and log workouts to be entered to win a variety of prizes. Grand prize items, donated by area businesses, include a one-year Centre County YMCA family membership, a bicycle courtesy of CentreBike and The Bicycle Shop, two nutrition consultations with a One on One Fitness registered dietitian, fly fishing lessons and a child’s fishing rod, and a Centre Region Parks and Recreation summer pool pass.

Register by Thursday, April 5, and be eligible to win one of three passes for 10 yoga classes from TriYoga of Central Pennsylvania.
There’s no time or activity requirement for workouts, and exercise can be tracked online on the Centre Moves website. Tracking forms also are available at all Centre County YMCA branches or  Mount Nittany Health Fit for Play, or can be printed from the Centre Moves website. Paper forms can be turned in at any Centre County YMCA location or Fit for Play, or scanned or photographed and emailed to info@centremoves.org. Deadline for form submission is Saturday, May 5.

Mount Nittany Health is partner of the Centre Moves Fit Families Challenge. Chronic disease, including heart disease and diabetes, was identified as a key priority in the most recent Community Health Needs Assessment, conducted by Mount Nittany Health in partnership with Centre Foundation, Centre County United Way and Centre County Partnership for Community Health. Because heart disease is impacted by high blood pressure and high cholesterol, which can result from poor diet and exercise habits, healthy weight management is key in improving the health and wellness of the community and Mount Nittany Health’s mission to make people healthier.

Registration for the challenge is now open at www.centremoves.org. For more information, call (814) 231-7140 or email info@centremoves.org
