An estimated 82% of COVID-19 patients — 130,353 — in the state have recovered, according to a DOH calculation. Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine said on Wednesday that ‘recovered’ means the patient is no longer contagious, but that many patients continue to experience lingering health effects long after. Results of a CDC survey published in late July found 35% of individual had not returned to a normal state of health within two to three weeks after testing positive, including 20% of 18-34-year-olds with no chronic medical conditions.
‘True recovery, complete recovery from COVID-19, we are now seeing, can be a long process,’ Levine said.

- Approximately 1% are ages 0-4;
- Nearly 2% are ages 5-12;
- Nearly 5% are ages 13-18;
