Adewumi Charged with Making False Allegations of Sexual Assault

A State College man accused of stalking a high school student is back in jail, facing new charges. David Adewumi is now charged with making false allegations of sexual assault against Centre County Correctional Facility officers, according to court documents.

Adewumi, 25, of Lemont, claims he was sexually abused by officers in the Centre County Correctional Facility in July and August. Adewumi said they grabbed his genitals while he was seated in a restraint chair, according to court documents.

State Police reviewed surveillance videos and reportedly found no acts of sexual assault.

Adewumi was arrested in July and charged with stalking and harassment. As a Penn State student, Adewumi was well-known as a co-founder of the student-run entrepreneurial group Innoblue.

Adewumi most recently made headlines at the Sept. 16 State College Borough Council meeting when he told the council that officers with State College Police have been bullying and harassing him over the past couple months.

State College Police Chief Tom King has said that the allegations against State College Police officers have already been investigated by an outside agency, and that the Centre County District Attorney’s office has also been involved.

Adewumi is in jail on $5,000 bail and will have his preliminary hearing on Oct. 2.
