Alloway Receives C-NET’s Barbash Award

STATE COLLEGE — Catherine Alloway, director of Schlow Centre Region Library, was presented with the 2017 Robert W. Barbash Award at C-NET’s Annual Volunteer Recognition event on Sunday.

 C-NET, Centre County’s Government and Education Access Network, presents the Barbash Award to an individual each year in recognition of outstanding leadership and contributions in support of C-NET. Alloway served as consultant and facilitator for the development of the 2016 C-NET Strategic Plan.  

“Not only is Ms. Alloway experienced in strategic planning, but she is knowledgeable of the community, and brings a positive and creative energy to everything she does. She is a joy to work with,” said Cynthia Hahn, executive director of C-NET

The Barbash award is named for Robert W. Barbash, an original member of the Cable Television Task Force that was first organized in 1985 to explore the development of a government and educational access organization in Centre County. Barbash went on to serve on the C-NET Board of Directors until his retirement in 1999.

C-NET operates CGTV (Channel 7) and CETV (Channel 98) on the Comcast and Windstream cable systems in Centre County and provides government and educational programming online at cnet1.org.
