A man reportedly exposed himself to a female Penn State student Wednesday night in a Holmes Hall dormitory room, University Park police said.
About 11 p.m., according to a police report, the man entered the room, exposed himself, then left the area. Holmes Hall is part of the North Halls residential complex.
Several indecent-exposure episodes have happened on campus since Aug. 10, 2009, university police indicated. They said the episodes have occurred in various University Park residence halls. An investigation is continuing.
‘The alleged perpetrator is described as a college-age, light-skinned male with a dark mask who has been dressed in a variety of clothing and has attempted to conceal his identity by wearing a mask,’ a university press release reads.
Penn State has reminded campus residents that they shouldn’t let unknown people ‘piggyback’ into residential buildings. That’s the practice of holding or propping and exterior door open. Residents have card-key access.
In addition, campus police have stepped up patrols. They are asking the university community to report any suspicious activity on or near campus by calling them (814) 863-1111 or Centre County CRIMESTOPPERS at (877) 992-7463.
People who provide information may be eligible for a reward of as much as $1,000, Penn State reported. Callers can remain anonymous or visit the Silent Witness website at https://www.police.psu.edu/witness, the news release notes.
The university issued several additional reminders, encouraging campus residents to lock their residence-halls doors; to never walk alone at night; to stay in well-lighted areas; and to call (814) 865-WALK if they need the Security Escort Service.
