The National Weather Service has issued an area flood warning for Centre County through 6:15 p.m.
The warning is an urban and small stream advisory for minor flooding of poor drainage areas in Centre County and surrounding areas in Central Pennsylvania.
State College could experience some minor flooding and showers and thunderstorms will continue to increase in coverage through the early the evening.
The National Weather Service says excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on small creeks and streams, with ponding of water in urban areas, on highways and in the streets. Low-lying spots and poor drainage areas, such as underpasses are also susceptible to flooding.
