There’s a new twist to America’s pastime and it’s really something to howl about. Dogs are the newest addition to baseball stadiums across the nation and it’s a trend the State College Spikes have embraced.
Tuesday’s game against the Williamsport Crosscutters was “Bark in the Park” night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The promotion drew hundreds of dog owners along with their furry escorts. The stadium’s concourse turned into a promenade for four-legged baseball fans of all shapes and sizes.
The Spikes say Bark in the Park is fast becoming a new tradition because it brings in big crowds. In fact, it’s become so popular the Spikes will host a second Bark in the Park in August. The Spikes lost to the Crosscutters 5-2 but that didn’t stop everyone from having a lot of fun.
