Bike Paths to Be Temporarily Closed

Bike paths and park parking lots in State College and Ferguson Township will close temporarily next week for pavement sealing.

Sealcoating for bike paths is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 29, and parking lot sealcoating is scheduled for Wednesday, July 31, and Thursday, Aug. 1.

Each section of path and parking lot will be closed for 28 to 48 hours to allow for two applications and curing.

All work is weather-dependent and the schedule may be updated in the event of wet conditions.

Bike path maintenance will include:

• Blue Course Path – Circleville Road to Bristol Avenue 
• Orchard Park/Stonebridge Path – Grace Street to Shellers Bend
• Orchard Park Path – Edgewood Circle to Westerly Parkway
• Tudek Circleville Path – Hillcrest Avenue Extension to Park Avenue
• Foxpointe Path – Pine Hall Road to Prairie Lane
• Tusseyview Park Path
• East Fairmount Park Path

Parking lots will include:

• Holmes Foster
• Orchard Park
• Lederer Park
• Sunset Park
• High Point Park 

New Bike Repair Stations

Ferguson Township Public Works recently installed new bike repair stations on the Tudek Park and Science Park Road bike paths.

The stations were suggested by Ferguson Township Board of Supervisors Chair Steve Miller and approved by the board. Each station includes a concrete pad for working, a rack for hanging the bike, a basic bike repair tool kit, and tire pump. 

They join 11 other bike repair stations in the Centre Region — four in State College and seven on the Penn State campus.
