State College residents looking to volunteer while becoming more involved in local and regional civic activities can apply for one of several vacancies on authorities, boards, committees and commissions (ABC).
The borough currently has vacancies to fill for the University Area Joint Authority, Human Relations Commission, Regional Tax Appeals Board, Board of Health, Tree Commission, Transportation Commission and Centre Network (C-NET).
State College can only accept volunteers who are residents of the borough. Special accommodations will be made upon request and whenever possible to assist individuals with a disability.
Applications are available here and must be submitted by Dec. 4.
ABCs are appointed by the State College Borough Council members, who receive advice from more than 100 appointed residents who serve on various authorities, boards, commissions and committees. Members of ABCs serve without compensation. Most are advisory to borough council.
