Centre County Adds 4 New COVID-19 Cases

Centre County reported four new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, bringing its total to 180 since the first was reported on March 20.

In the past two weeks, the county has added 25 new cases of the virus. 

Statewide, the Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 504 new positives on Saturday, increasing Pennsylvania’s total number of cases to 81,266. 

Pennsylvania has had 6,419 attributed to the virus, including 20 new deaths reported on Saturday. Centre County has had six COVID-19 deaths, the most recent on May 27. 

An estimated 77 percent of patients with the virus — or about 62,574 — have recovered, according to the health department.

Among Pennsylvania’s total cases, 78,947 are confirmed and 2,319 are probable. In Centre County, 171 are confirmed and nine are probable.

16801 (State College): 40 (+3)

16803 (State College): 36

16827 (Boalsburg): 10

16870 (Port Matilda): 9

16841 (Howard): 5

16865 (Pennsylvania Furnace), 16828 (Centre Hall), 16866 (Philipsburg), 16844 (Julian), 16875 (Spring Mills), 16852 (Madisonburg) and 16872 (Rebersburg) each have 1-4 cases. Specific numbers are not provided for zip codes with fewer than five cases. 

Total nursing home cases in the county remained unchanged on Saturday, with 23 among residents and 14 among employees at two facilities.

Among bordering counties, Huntingdon now has 240 cases, Union has 85, Clinton has 70, Clearfield has 66, Mifflin has 61 and Blair has 58.

A total of 566,461 patients in Pennsylvania have tested negative for COVID-19, including 3,473 people in Centre County. Across the state,  721 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, with 153 requiring use of a ventilator as of noon on Saturday.
