Centre Foundation Scholarships Open for Local Students

More than 100 scholarship funds held by Centre Foundation are accepting applications from students in Centre County school districts.

Applications also are open to students in Clearfield and Tyrone school districts.

Students interested in applying should work with their high school guidance offices for access to the online application platform Academic Works, Centre Foundation executive director Molly Kunkel said.

A variety of scholarships — including academic, athletic and arts-based — are available to students planning any type of post-secondary education.

“These scholarship funds are established for a variety of reasons,” Kunkel said in a release. “Honoring a teacher’s legacy, memorializing a student who was lost too soon, and encouraging athletic or musical ability are just a few examples of events that have catalyzed the formation of some of the scholarships housed at Centre Foundation.”

AAUW and the PEO Sisterhood also hold scholarship funds for students who are pursuing their educations later in life. More information on these and others administered by Centre Foundation can be found at Centre-Foundation.org/Funds or by calling 814-237-6229.

A total of $221,240 was distributed through scholarship funds to 95 students attending 39 post-secondary schools last year.

“Our application process is streamlined through an online system that facilitates a more user-friendly experience,” said Ashley Pipe, grants and scholarship coordinator. “Our office works with the school districts and scholarship fund holders to facilitate the annual scholarship process.”
