Amid COVID-19 concerns, Centre Volunteers in Medicine is going virtual with this year’s Central Cycling Classic. The event, sponsored by Mount Nittany Health, is in its 12th year and has raised over $280,000 for CVIM patients.
The CVIM Central Cycling Classic Virtual Challenge is a non-competitive ride and can be completed anytime in the month of July at your own pace. All you need is a bike and a route. You choose the route and create the challenge.
All riders must register. The registration fee is $45 for adults and $10 for children 16 and under. Children 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult rider.
CVIM is looking for even more support now as the number of people who have lost their insurance slowly rises during a surge in unemployment figures. This year’s event will have an emphasis on fundraising, reminding everyone that every single gift is important.
CVIM is a free clinic providing medical and dental care, medication assistance and case management services to the thousands living or working in Centre County without healthcare coverage. CVIM receives no federal or state money and only limited funding from the county. Over 95% of CVIM’s budget comes from the community.
