A section of South Burrowes Street will be closed to traffic as construction crews continue replacing an aging water main along West College Avenue.
The work will close South Burrowes Street from West College Avenue to Calder Way on Monday and Tuesday.
Workers are replacing about 3,000 feet of outdated pipe that’s believed to be roughly 100 years old.
The work area stretches from Atherton Street east to Heister Street.
One lane of College Avenue is currently blocked off between Burrowes Street and Atherton Street. The entire project is slated for completion in mid-August.
The State College Borough Water Authority says drivers and pedestrians should be careful when traveling through the construction zone. Delays are possible and you may want to use alternate routes.
All businesses will be open while the construction takes place and are accessible to shoppers using the sidewalks along College Avenue.
If you have any questions you should contact the State College Borough Water Authority at 814-238-6766. You can also visit the SCBWA website.
