Coroner Scott Sayers reported on Wednesday night a sixth COVID-19 death in Centre County.

The patient was an 88-year-old man who died on Wednesday at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

The man had been a resident of Wynwood House at State College, owner Vince Romanini confirmed. It is the second COVID-19 death of a resident at the facility.

While this is the sixth COVID-19 death reported by the Centre County coroner’s office, the Pennsylvania Department of Health has listed six deaths in the county since Saturday. The health department lists deaths by county of residence, so it is possible a Centre County resident died in another county.

The Oaks at Pleasant Gap previously reported COVID-19 deaths of two of its residents, a 96-year-old man and an 89-year-old woman, who died on May 8 and 9 at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Centre County’s other confirmed deaths were an 89-year-old man, a 74-year-old man and an 88-year-old woman, all of whom died at the medical center.

Across Pennsylvania, 3,469 of the 5,265 deaths attributed to the virus have been residents of nursing or personal care facilities.
