The colorful leaves and crisp cool air of autumn bring with them new trends and makeover ideas to fall in love with.

The newest in fashion, hair and makeup will have you ready to happily trade in your swimming suit and sandals for sweaters, boots and scarves.

From leather to houndstooth, red hair hues and smoky eyes, edge and glamour combine to create the must have makeover essentials for fall.

Clothing

If your closet is in desperate need of a fall makeover, look to these trends for chic new additions:

  • Leather and lots of it: This fall, fashionistas will find leather on everything — skirts, tops, dresses, pants and shoes. Motorcycle jackets and ankle boots will be huge, adding an edgy yet feminine touch to any wardrobe.

  • Varsity jackets: Ever reminisce about your teen years? Varsity jackets, a new trend for fall, will help you relive your high school memories without the drama, bad hair and braces.

  • Collars: To offset the toughness of the leather trend, girlish Peter Pan collars will play a big role in fall trends. Whether cotton, lace or sheer, collars add a touch of feminine charm to tops and blouses.

  • Houndstooth: This classic print is back in style as a major work wear trend.  Skirts, tops, jackets and even pants can be found in the pattern often described as broken checks.

  • Menswear: Move over guys. This fall, ladies are crossing over into your territory. Pantsuits, oversized coats and chunky sweaters are now unisex items. Look for these styles in grays, blues and greens.

  • Winter white: Who says you can’t wear white after Labor Day? White jeans aren’t just for spring and summer anymore. Go bold with white outerwear. Try a snow-colored peacoat, chunky knit sweater or jacket.

  • Camo: Camouflage isn’t just for hunters and the military anymore. Camo jackets and skinny pants will be on trend this fall.

Hair

Because of the long days spent in the sun and water, summer can be brutal to your hair. Fall is the perfect time for a revitalizing makeover. Though hues of red are huge this fall, those looking for brown and dark blonde shades can find the perfect autumn color.

Color

  •  Cherry cola brown (dark auburn): Perfect for those with olive skin tones or darker hair, cherry cola brown is the newest and most popular shade of auburn. Match this color with long layers for the perfect hayride hairstyle.

  • Copper red: As the go-to red for those with fair skin, copper red adds fire and cinnamon spice to a hairstyle without weighing it down too much.

  • Honey blonde: As winter is the time to darken hair, blondes should look towards a mix of blonde and brunette hair to create the perfect hue of honey.

  • Chocolate caramel: Chocolate caramel is the perfect color for brunettes who aren’t looking for a drastic change. Pair a chocolate brown with warm copper highlights to create a gorgeous fall hot chocolate color.

Style

  •  Loose waves: Think loose, sleek, and polished waves. Classic, not beach, is the keyword when it comes to fall waves. Because the simplicity and classic touch, this hairstyle is versatile. It is worn well with a knit hat pumpkin picking or at a formal fall ball.

  • Textured bob: To get rid of your dry, damaged end caused by sun, sand and surf, think about a layered bob, with the longest layer just grazing your chin.

  • Sleek and straight: Say goodbye to humidity and frizz. Fall says hello to long, sleek hair.

  • Bangs: Bangs are back in full force this fall. Whether they are side-swept or straight across the forehead, bangs can be a dramatic makeover addition to any hairstyle.

Makeup

New makeup trends complete fall fashion overhauls. Huge trends this year follow the face paint of yesteryears, specifically those of the 1950s and 1960s. Mad Men style anyone?

  • Smokey and cat eye: A glamorous, edgy sooty dark shadow combine with winged-eyeliner is the perfect eye trend for this fall. A smokey lower lash liner is classic, but sultry and mysterious, perfect for day to night transitions. Wear a lower lash liner to the office during the day. Add drama with smokey eyeshadow and layers of mascara to your eyelashes for a night on the town.

  • Beachy blush: Though clothes and hairstyles are moving away from the beach, makeup doesn’t have to. Keep that ‘just left the sand’ glow with beachy blushes and bronzers.

  • Matte lips: Bust out the bold and dramatic lip colors because fall is all about the classic and sophisticated look of matte. Combine this makeover trend with full lashes and bold brows to create the perfect Mad Men look.

  • Copper eyes: For those who think the smokey eye is a bit too dramatic, copper and crimson eyeshadows are less vivid trends. Bringing autumn classic colors to your face, copper and crimson shadows are romantic and rich colors that compliment any eye color. Whether you like matte or shimmery shades, both are huge fall makeover trends.
