Ferguson Township Fills Board of Supervisors Vacancy

A former Ferguson Township supervisor is returning to the board to fill a vacancy for the remainder of the year.

The township supervisors have appointed Richard Killian to complete the unexpired term for Ward III supervisor, which ends on Dec. 31.

Killian previously was a Ferguson Township supervisor for two terms from 2004 to 2012. He also has served on planning commission. He was among three candidates interviewed for the position, along with Patricia Stephens and Jeremie Thompson.

Sara Spock Carlson resigned from the Ward III supervisor position in January because of health issues. 

Killian, who will be sworn in at Tuesday’s board meeting, will be the fourth Ward III supervisor in a four-year term that began in January 2016. After Colleen Unroe was elected to the seat and withdrew, Rita Graef was appointed to fill the position until the next municipal election. Carlson then ran unopposed in the 2017 general election and took office for a two-year interim term in January 2018.
